Yoga has been a continuing interest throughout my life, in various forms and at different times. I started at 16 in Oxenhope Village Hall and have attended different classes on and off wherever I have been.
In 2019 I was Marketing Director at a large commercial organisation - the epitome of corporate. I suffered health problems and was signed off work with stress. Without doubt yoga helped my recovery and was recommended by all health professionals, traditional and alternative.
Yoga practice is now an integral part of my life to maintain a sense of balance and one of my main focuses in teaching is stress and anxiety management. I have a business training module "Who's Driving Your Chariot?" using yoga life hacks for better wellbeing.
I'm also interested in how somatic movements can help release locked emotions or tensions in the body. 80% of our emotions or feelings are led by the body. I run weekend wellness retreats where this is explored although with meditation, journalling and time in nature.
Yoga can be used in so many ways - to calm the mind or as a "flexercise". I've sport specific yoga sequences to help the parts of the body most effected by sports such as skiing, running or sailing, which I also enjoy.
Through studying the British Wheel of Yoga Foundation course my practice and understanding of Yoga as deeply spiritual and a holistic way of being was strengthened.
My experiences have been so positive I wanted to share them and qualified with the BWY as a teacher. The BWY is recognised by Sports England as the highest level of yoga training and the governing body for yoga in the UK.
